Gary Neville has an infrastructure, project finance, management consultancy and accountancy background with board experience at Main List, AIM and private companies and investment vehicle experience using private, public and DFI funding.

Until February 2018 he was Director of the Investment Committee of John Laing plc, the UK listed international infrastructure investment company with investments in Europe, Australasia and North America.

He is currently a non-executive director at Infinity Energy, a company listed on the London Stock Exchange and a Board Advisor for Iona Capital, which manages funds for institutional investors that provide equity and subordinated debt into renewable infrastructure projects in the BioEnergy sector.

Formerly Gary was Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of the manager of InfraMed Infrastructure fund based in Paris ($500m) targeting transport, power and urban infrastructure projects in the SEMED region. Fund became substantially invested within 31/2 years of his joining. Investments include deep-water port, wind farm, CCGT, and oil & gas projects. The fund investors were the EIB (European Investment Bank), CDC (French national bank), CDP (Italian national bank), CDG (Moroccan national bank) and EFG Hermes of Egypt. Gary represented the fund on the boards of investee companies and was a member of the Investment Committee.

He represented the Lendlease Infrastructure Fund on the boards of a number of their social infrastructure investee companies, advised PwC on infrastructure portfolio valuation and advised the HSBC infrastructure fund (HICL) as well as Costain on their renewables strategy.

Gary was formerly CEO of the exclusive investment advisor to Infrastructure India plc (LSE Main List). Gary was responsible for the origination and execution of infrastructure investments in India. IIP became substantially invested within four months taking stakes in projects in the transport and power sectors and a substantial pipeline of future opportunities developed in the chosen sectors.

Gary was previously a Board Director of John Laing plc – one of the largest publicly quoted PPP/PFI infrastructure investors in the UK at the time –with the responsibility of managing and growing the John Laing infrastructure asset portfolio during the period the company was transformed from a construction company into an infrastructure investor (over 50 assets internationally). His responsibilities included asset acquisitions, disposals and refinancing, and project monitoring and he also sat on the company’s investment committee. Gary joined John Laing in 2001 and left in 2007 after overseeing its sale to Henderson for in excess of £1 billion. Gary was also the CEO of Laing’s FSA authorised fund management entity.  At John Laing, Gary represented the company on several PFI SPV entity boards.

Gary was a former management consultant with PWC and BDO Binder Hamlyn, Head of Project Finance at merchant bank Guinness Mahon and has held senior finance positions with Dow Chemical and Allied Lyons. He holds a Teacher’s Certificate from Durham University, is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
